How to get there...
.. you’ve already arrived, and have some experience of the nightmare that is Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The big-wigs who have the power to change things, never, ever take public transport, so nothing changes. Airport taxis from the grid are a rip-off, and will charge like a wounded carabao (from P250 for a P60 fare!), but they to have waiting time to absorb. Head up the stairs from the arrival deck to the departures deck, where you can hop a taxi that has just dropped passengers off, and head either for your Manila hotel, the nearest bus terminal (probably in nearby Pasay), or the LRT/MRT lines E.D.S.A. Taft Station for the D Jose or Cubao buses (see maps). You may want to negotiate for the taxi to take you to Angeles (from Php 2,000 up) or Subic (from Php 3,000 up).
The cheap Charlie alternative is to take one of the buses from the airport’s access road that run up E.D.S.A. (Manila’s excellent but congested ring road) for P10 per section – air-con.
Main bus terminals are at Pasay (nearest to the airport) where you will find Victory Liner, BLTB, and Five Star buses, Cubao (halfway up E.D.S.A. heading north) for, Victory Liner, Dominion, and Partas, Monumento (north, near expressway) for Victory Liner, and D Jose for Philippine Rabbit - see list below map. Angeles City - The quickest, and most convenient way, is to fly the SeAir service from Manila to Clark. Fly the Bus has regular departures from Swagman Hotel, Manila. A new service operates out of the Southern Star Hotel, Ermita to the Orchid and Brass Knob Hotels departs 15.30. Public transport - Philippine Rabbit have hourly departures from their Avenida Terminal, just by the D. Jose LRT Station.. Victory Liner (for Dau Bus Station) Dagupan services from their Pasay (Makati) and Cubao (MRT Cubao Station). Plus several other bus lines (Five Star, Partas, Dagupan, etc.) going north, but check with the conductor first that they will stop at Dau, or you could be walking from the toll booths! Jeepneys from Dau are P10 to Fields Ave, or Tricycle to your hotel for P50 - 70.
Boracay - The best access is thru the resort of your choice, which is served by Subic Seaplane from Manila and Subic . Kalibo Airport is over an hour jeepney or bus ride from Caticlan.
Busuanga (for Coron), & Palawan are also serviced by Subic Seaplane from Manila and Subic.
Bauang, La Union - The quickest way is by Subic Seaplane , drops you in front of the resort of your choice. See ads. Fly the Bus service the resorts en-route for Baguio from Swagman Narra, Angeles Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Partas (who have a new fleet of European buses), Dominion (who stop once between Dau and San Fernando), & Philippine Rabbit (dirty & long stop at Tarlac) have terminals in San Fernando, L.U. All run from Manila via Dau. Buses headed for Laoag will drop you off at your chosen resort (for Sunset Bay exit after the Pagdalagan Bridge). Puerto Galera - The surest way is to take the dedicated bus to M/B Island Cruiser ferry out of Batangas departing 8 am from Swagman Hotel in Ermita. Check the swaggy linkFor a really spectacular entry Subic Seaplane can be chartered for very reasonable rates JAM and BLTB buses depart regularly from Cubao & Pasay to Batangas Pier for scheduled ferry services. |

Subic Bay From the Cultural Center, take the Mt Samat Ferry service to Orion in Bataan, and shuttle bus to Subic is perhaps the quickest - best to check with your resort on availability. Victory Liner have hourly departures to Olongapo from their Pasay (Makati) and Monumento (LRT Monumento) Terminals. Saulog also have a terminal in Olongapo. The Subic Bay Express run a daily service to/from Angeles departing 10 am from Bo Barretto/Baloy Beach, and 1pm from Southern Star & Sunset Gardens Hotels Balibago, and also service Iba on request. Fly the Bus service operates out of the Swagman Hotel, Angeles. From Dau - take a Highway jeep (P15) from outside KFC to San Fernando, Pampanga. At the traffic lights by MacDonald's, transfer to any bus heading for Olongapo. Jeepneys to Barrio Barretto (P4.50) & Subic, and the Main Gate, leave from the Victory Liner terminal by Ulo ng Apo circle. An efficient internal bus service operates within the former base. Jeepneys from Barrio Barretto to Subic cost P10 - a trike is around P60. A new service operated by Southern Cross Hotel in Ermita, Manila runs from Orchid Inn & Brass Knob Hotel in Angeles leaving 08.45 to the Wild Orchic Resort (formerly Zanzibar Hotel), Baloy Beach.
Bus Companies Below is a list of Bus Compananies and the destinations they service. The ones heading north I recommend are Victory Liner, and Partas for their well maintained buses. Dominion is good, and only usually has one stop (a stop is usually 20-45 minutes) from Dau to San Fernando, La Union. The others have 2 stops. If you get on a bus south from La Union that does'nt stop in Dau, you can change at Tarlac Philippine Rabbit terminal. |
